St. Patrick’s Day is associated with Ireland, and rightly so. After all, St. Patrick was the patron saint of Ireland.
However, you don’t have to be Irish to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day; it’s a fun day that everyone enjoys celebrating.
Dress green, eat green and drink green and you are almost guaranteed to have a great day!
Over the years, I’ve experimented with a wide variety of green drinks. Some have been traditional, (such as green beer), and others have been totally unique.
Whether you’re planning a St. Patricks Day party, or just chillin at home with green drinks in hand, here are some fun green drinks to try…
Green Beer
If you want a pint of green beer, you could head to the local pub or make it at home.
When making green beer at home, start with a light colored beer. It will better absorb the color.
Once the beer has been poured into a chilled beer stein, all you have to do is add a few drops of green food coloring and presto, you have green beer!
Another option, if you don’t have green food coloring, is to use blue food coloring.
Beer is yellow in color, and as you know mixing yellow with blue makes green. So, just add a drop or two of blue food coloring to the yellow beer and waa-lah, you have green beer (…although it won’t be a true green).
Whenever I make a glass of green beer for my husband, I prefer to use green food coloring, but either blue or green will work in a pinch. It tastes exactly the same either way. The food coloring doesn’t affect the taste of the beer.
